Business Training
Practical, applied training in business planning, financial management, record-keeping, marketing and customer relations, delivered in a format that works for people running businesses in Kirehe District.
The Convergence Point
Refugee Horizons runs two parallel development pathways: Itetero Daycare for young children and their mothers, and Mahama: The House of Talents for older children and youth. Both pathways lead to the same destination: economic independence and community self-reliance.
Livelihoods and entrepreneurship is where they converge. The mother freed from childcare costs by Itetero now has the time and the seed capital to build a business. The young person who developed discipline and leadership through sport now has the skills and the certification to enter the workforce. The entrepreneur who completed our business training now has the network and the confidence to grow.
Self-reliance is not a destination that people arrive at on their own. It is a specific set of skills, resources and connections, and we build all three.
Three components that build the skills, resources and connections needed for sustainable economic independence.

Seed capital paired with every Itetero Daycare scholarship, so that a parent freed from childcare costs has the resources to act on that freedom immediately. An investment in a business that is already running, or ready to start.
Workshops and recognised certification in childcare, coaching, community facilitation and other fields, opening real doors to employment for youth who have completed our sport, education or leadership programmes.
From our Itetero Daycare pilot phase, the first proof point of the livelihoods model in action.
Our 5-Year Goals for Livelihoods (2026 to 2031)
By 2031, we are working toward 100+ entrepreneurs trained, 60+ businesses supported with seed capital, and 70% of supported businesses reporting increased income after 12 months, with every outcome tracked and published on our Transparency page.
