Refugee Horizons marked a proud milestone this week as children from Itetero Daycare, our early childhood development program in Mahama refugee camp, graduated in a joyful ceremony filled with caps, gowns, and cheering families.
Itetero Daycare exists to give the youngest refugee children, many born into displacement, a strong foundation for learning, social development, and emotional wellbeing before they even start primary school. For families rebuilding their lives in Mahama, quality early childhood care means parents can pursue work, training, and livelihood opportunities knowing their children are safe, nurtured, and learning.
The graduation carried extra significance this year, as representatives from the UNHCR Kirehe Sub-Office attended to celebrate the achievement alongside the children, their families, and the Refugee Horizons team. Their presence reflected the strength of the partnership between Refugee Horizons and UNHCR in supporting holistic refugee protection, one that goes beyond emergency assistance to invest in the long-term development of children and families.
As these graduates take their next step, Refugee Horizons remains committed to expanding access to early childhood development, ensuring that every child in Mahama gets the strong start they deserve.
